SHC Graduation

So graduation.... It was really great to see a lot of the students I had taught make it through to the end.  This isn't to say I had doubts; I just remember going through the experience myself and knowing how tough it is to make it to the end.  The way the students are scheduled for their classes makes the class I teach the second one that they take.  So it's great to see some of these guys after a few years.

As far as the actual graduation, it was a really good one.  I can't even remember who the main speaker was but he's from Richmond, UT and was an Astronaut.  We had up to 100 students graduating.  Now if that seems kind of low, just remember that it's 1 of 16 campus's that College America has, and we are one of the smaller ones.  From what I know, we have about 13,000 total students among our system.

I had the privilege of being one of the photographers for the night.  I did take some formal shots, but for the most part I decided I would get mostly informal shots knowing that Tim was getting all the others.  I felt that it would add a dynamic to all of the photos.  I'm including just a few of the photos that were taken.  They aren't even the best ones but that doesn't matter.

At the end, the students go outside and let go of balloons to celebrate.  I took a video of it which isn't included.  After that we (Tim and I) scurried around taking shots of students with their families.  Once again, those photos aren't included. I hope to be allowed to do this again next year as I am really trying to learn new things about photography and the best settings for my camera.
