Weekly Commitment # 3

Addie: I'm a Baker!

Addie:  This week was President's Day and for some reason weeks that we have a holiday seem to go by super slow at work.  Sometimes at work I feel like there are afternoons that feel like 2 whole days, and looking back at this week I feel like it was 2 weeks long.  It's a strange feeling.  I really like holidays, don't get me wrong, but they throw everything off.  I've become addicted to 'The Voice', a reality TV show about singing, and I have also made peanut butter bars for two weekends in a row.  I feel like such a baker!!  They are my favorite treat.  Chris says they are better than Lee's peanut butter bars and that is saying a lot because their's are super yummy.

Chris: Basketball is over!!  Sike.  Chris is the stake sports specialist and has been gone every Thursday night and Friday afternoon/evening being a ref or just being at basketball games.  Our stake games are now over and I was so excited to have a husband back for more than 3 nights a week (he's at work Monday and Wednesday nights) when lo and behold: region games begin this week.  Really??  I know I need to be a supportive of his calling - and that's all I really want to say about that.  I want to be supportive of his calling :)  He's really good at what he does.

Jackson: I love my baby boy.  He is turning into a jabber mouth and I feel special because I can understand a lot of what he says when other people can't.  I guess I should want him to be able to articulate better - but for now I don't mind being the translator.  Jackson's new favorite game is throwing his little stuffed "bober" (beaver) through the window of his cardboard house and having someone else throw it back.  He laughs and laughs. He'll be in the house for a few minutes and then it is momma or dadda's turn to be inside.  His laugh is impossible to resist and I'll do lots of crazy things to hear that sound.

Lily: Our poor girl has been sick for about a month.  It started with a runny nose that turned into the cough that never ends.  She had a tiny fever for a day, and a few days of runny noses in between.  We can't seem to kick this awful little cold. Nothing about it is terrible, it just won't go away.  We've noticed that when Lily starts to get tired she gets a little slap-happy.  She smiles very easily and she does a little dance move with her arms.  Our brother Joey got a little video of it today that we'll get on here.  She moves her arms a lot and then kind of goes limp and her head tilts to one side or the other.  It's really funny to watch.    She is starting roll a lot and is able to make it over to something she wants if she rolls around enough.  She has been able to scoot herself backwards a tiny bit when she's on her tummy - crawling is not too far away.

Quality is from a phone. If you make it bigger it'll get worse. :)

We are thankful for:  I forgot this section last week, so I'll name two this week.  We are thankful for Skype that lets us video chat with family.  We not only get to hear the voices but we see the faces and the smiles.  We are also thankful for dentists.  They make our teeth feel better and fix them when we need them to - I really don't know how people handled tooth pain before anesthetics came along.

Chris:

I think that both Addie and I would consider this a hard week to think of things to talk about.  We were both pretty boring people over the weekend and that’s where we get most of our material…

We did take Jacks to McDonalds this week and let him play in their playhouse.  The first time he went up he came to the window and kept saying hi.  We tried to get him to go down another tunnel so he could find the slide but he just kept getting lost and coming back to the window.  Thank goodness another kid went through the tunnel and, Jackson being Jackson, he followed him to the slide.  Phew.  I would’ve needed to send Addie up there to get him because I don’t know if I could pull off the little kid type like Addie might.

Lily is just being Lily.  Addie was asked to do a lesson for 4 year olds today so I took Lily into my class with me.  She just sat there and played with her toys and stared at the boys a lot.  I’ve noticed that when she has a hard time getting to sleep that she absolutely loves to have her feet and legs rubbed.  She always moans in delight when I do that and then eventually falls asleep.

So I figured I’d go down memory lane for this last part.  I have two for you….

1. So this was an Institute Halloween dance that, obviously, Addie and I went to together.  I actually don't remember much from it other than the terror of seeing myself in this costume.  I'm sure that Addie would say otherwise, but I really look like a dweeb.

So…… what was I thinking back then?  I know I did it for the girl but geez.  Only for you Addie…only for you.

2. So I’m not entirely sure why I have this next picture, but it’s the only one that I have of Karen for some reason.  I still remember being there that night.  For some reason I think of Rodrigo y Gabriela as well (First time Shelly and maybe Jon heard that music.)  But I also remember feeling at one point that she would leave us within the following 15 minutes , and sure enough,  she did.  I hadn’t thought about her in a long time before seeing this photo.
