Well, Spring has arrived. It's also been over 2 years since we moved in to this house and we still haven't done anything with the back yard yet except for the small garden (which looks pitiful right now). So with the help of Addie's parents, we finally got started with it all. Paul came over on Saturday with a chain saw and rope so that we could cut down close to 9 Quakies (is that right?). That's right, 9 ! I hate those darn things because of all the stupid growths that pop up from their root system. Also, whoever lived in this house before us cut down a number of other trees but left the stumps just for us. Lets just say the yard really hasn't been a safe haven for running around.
It was really funny with our first tree...it was taller then our house and if it didn't fall where we wanted it to there was potential for destroying our neighbors shed, fence, garden, another fence, a person, etc etc And the ladder we had was too short to get anywhere up the tree. So I had to improvise and took the rope we had and tied it to a nerf football and tried to fling it up on to the branch we needed it on. Well, 20 minutes later we finally got it. As we were cutting the tree down, and me pulling tightly so it fell right, we could see our backyard neighbors (3 single women) all peeking through the window. I thought that they must be scared but in church the next day Addie said one came up to her and said they were all so intrigued by what was happening. Phew.
To make a long story short. We were able to get down all the trees we needed except for 1...the dumb pine tree. I hate that thing as well. I swear there are a million spiders in that tree and they are all laughing at me. We will get you, you dumb tree. Anyway, here are some pictures. I know the first two have nothing to do with trees but I thought I would start you out with some smiles first. Enjoy.
